Driving Indonesia’s Sustainable Economy: Key Insights from the Road to IISF 2026

The Langham Jakarta, 30 March 2026

We are honored to have served as the knowledge partner for the "Road to Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) 2026." Supported by ViriyaENB, this forum focused on "International Collaboration to Support Indonesia’s Sustainable Economy," bringing together leaders from government, businesses, and think-tanks/CSOs to bridge the gap between investment quantity and sustainability quality.

Our Lead Consultant, Fahmi Islami, was presenting our latest policy brief, which contains findings identifying inconsistent law enforcement as the root cause of investment quality gaps, urging partner countries to actively mandate higher sustainability standards for their investors.

The forum was further enriched by strategic insights from our distinguished speakers:
1. Philips Vermonte (Mandala Consulting): Emphasized that the energy transition is a matter of strategic sovereignty and national security, shifting focus toward high-quality, long-term investment.
2. Rachmat Kaimuddin (Chair of ISF Organizing Committee): Asserted that valuable investment must serve economic sovereignty by increasing domestic added value and reducing reliance on foreign inputs.
3. Tommy Suryopratomo (Mandala Consulting): Highlighted that a credible industrial roadmap and the development of a skilled workforce through vocational education are structural necessities for investors.

4. Farah Heliantina (Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs): Shared the government's substantial commitment, including a IDR 400 trillion budget allocation for 2026 to accelerate solar capacity and energy transition programs.
5. Hu Zaiwei (Huayou Indonesia): Demonstrated how sustainability is embedded from the design phase of their $11 billion investment, covering the full supply chain from mining to battery precursors.
6. Budiawansyah (PT Vale Indonesia): Stressed that adhering to international standards like IRMA is a strategic opportunity to build global credibility and secure green financing.
And moderated by our Senior Advisor Matthew Yeo.

With an attendance featuring governments, businesses, and CSOs, the energy in the room was a testament to the collective commitment toward a greener future.
