Mandala Consulting was engaged by a subsidiary of a publicly listed multinational coal-mining company operating in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, specifically aiming to improve the quality of vocational school graduates (SMK) and strengthen industry linkages.
To begin, we conducted a thorough landscape assessment to understand the relevant policies governing the VET sector. This was complemented by comprehensive stakeholder mapping to identify key policymakers at both national and regional levels. Our approach involved multi-stage engagements, carefully interacting with policymakers across different levels of government, from national ministries to regional agencies, ensuring the client’s objectives were aligned with the broader policy landscape.
Throughout this process, we provided continuous assistance, supporting the client from the initial stages of partnership preparation to the finalization of agreements. This dedication led to a record-breaking achievement: in a single event in Sulawesi, the company successfully signed partnerships with six SMKs, further strengthened by active participation from regional governments. This milestone was widely covered by multiple news outlets, marking a significant success in the client’s mission.
Additionally, Mandala played an ongoing role by continuously providing access and talking points for the client to expand its engagement with both regional and national government bodies, reinforcing the alignment of its business and educational mission with key governmental priorities. Furthermore, we also connected the client with one of the largest mining companies in Nusa Tenggara Barat.
